Blackbox Vulnerability Assessment
Blackbox vulnerability assessment is the practice of evaluating the security of IT infrastructure from the outside, with the purpose of uncovering security weaknesses that an attacker could exploit to penetrate the network. Conducted from outside the targeted infrastructure, the blackbox vulnerability assessment process includes gathering information about the target, identifying vulnerabilities & possible entry points, and reporting back the findings.
Whitebox Vulnerability Assessment
Whitebox vulnerability assessment is the practice of evaluating the security of IT infrastructure from within the network, assessing the vulnerability of the network and the hosts within it. The purpose of such an assessment is to uncover security weaknesses that can be exploited from within the network by a user that is behind the firewall.
